‘Make It a Good Day’

Jennifer Trebisovsky, a.k.a. Jennifer Universe

Maureen’s Readers continues support of children’s book authors. Jennifer Trebisovsky, pen name Jennifer Universe, is the author and illustrator of the book “Make It a Good Day”. Colorful illustrations accompanied by playful rhyme make this an uplifting book for children, as well as adults.

The useful, thoughtful tips offered can be practiced on both good days and the harder ones. It serves as a guide to creating a positive routine for all. Jennifer did classroom outreach pre-pandemic. One of which Maureen’s Readers was involved in.

Jennifer presented her book to Mrs. Thom’s kindergarten class at Rice Lake Elementary in Maple Grove. After reading “Make It a Good Day” she led the class in a watercolor art activity. The students drew and then painted a picture of something that makes their day good. Jennifer then took the paintings and combined them into a book. It became the class’s own “Make It a Good Day” book.

The children were so excited to participate in this project. Maureen’s Readers provided Jennifer’s book to each student. Later we provided another 100 books for Jennifer’s mission. Unfortunately, her in-school programs were sidetracked by the pandemic. However, recently she has started visiting students virtually.

The message of “Make it a Good Day” is helpful more now than ever. Her outreach includes Spring Lake Park Elementary, Obama Elementary, Park Terrace Elementary, Highland Elementary, and Webster Elementary. Jennifer also participated in the Art Buddies program. This is a one-on-one mentor program focused on students from high-need schools to help them discover their creative abilities.

She’s mentored students from Whittier International Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Loring Elementary, and Barack and Michelle Obama Elementary schools. Maureen’s Readers is excited to have recently provided added funds to enabling her students to get their own copy of “Make it a Good Day”.

  1. Make it a Good Day. In addition to the cute book, where she links her connections to San Diego, the water color paintings and instruction taken to create the book.

There was an excellent Occupational Therapist at the Oregon State Hospital who was created this idea among others that were stolen and now being promoted as these “great new idea” all without giving credit to the creator which was myself.

Its great to see them take it into the community at large yet these very folks who took these ideas failed in every sense to recognize and author and creative skills that have inspired them.
